The Journey of Spiritual and Biblical Enlightenment
Welcome Recordings began its journey in 1992, with a mission to record and disseminate talks on spirituality and prayer. Early on, we recognized a significant gap in our catalogue: in-depth Biblical teachings were scarce, leaving a void for those seeking deeper scriptural understanding.
This gap was filled in 1998 when Welcome Recordings had the opportunity to record teachings by the esteemed Fr. Raymond E. Brown. Renowned globally as an exceptional Scripture scholar, Fr. Raymond’s contributions to Biblical scholarship were unparalleled. His passing on the 8th of August, 1998 marked the loss of a great teacher, but he left behind a wealth of knowledge primarily accessible through his books. Welcome Recordings made it their mission to extend the reach of his teachings through audio recordings of his conferences.
In May 1998, Fr. Raymond gave Paul Soffe of Welcome Recordings special permission to release his series of talks titled ‘The Beginnings of the Church’. These were recorded by Paul in February 1998 in London. Furthermore, Fr. Raymond expressed his intent to have Paul record a conference in the UK, focusing on the Gospel of John, a subject for which he was widely celebrated. Unfortunately, this conference was never realized due to Fr. Raymond’s untimely passing in August 1998.
The quest to honour and preserve Fr. Raymond’s legacy continued beyond his death. In December 1999, Paul Soffe received permission from the Society of St. Sulpice to search for additional recordings by Fr. Raymond. This endeavour proved fruitful, and to date, there are 23 sets of recordings available. These recordings have undergone significant digital enhancement to ensure top-quality presentation, making them accessible and beneficial to listeners from all walks of life around the globe.
Since their release, the recordings have been met with widespread acclaim. People from diverse backgrounds have found immense value in Fr. Raymond’s teachings, gaining insights that have deepened their understanding of Biblical texts. The availability of these talks has ensured that Fr. Raymond’s legacy continues, enriching the lives of countless individuals.
